Practically bare and unfurnished, Mikael proudly showed off a part of his home, and the actor looked very pleased with it. He wrote, “When you’ve just moved in and don’t have any stuff… And I decided to get a TV first instead of a bed.” True enough, Mikael had a huge flatscreen television set up on the floor of his room. Kris Aquino, the youngest daughter of late statesman Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino Jr., paid tribute to her father in an Instagram post, saying that we owe our freedom to him because of his sacrifice. According to the Abante Tonite report, the prolific host and actress took to social media to remind everyone that her father had the ‘balls’ to stand up to the Marcos dictatorship during Martial Law. Her post, dated November 27, was in celebration of Ninoy’s 85th birthday. The sacrifice she was referring to was when Ninoy went home to the Philippines amidst death threats and warnings. He was shot dead on the tarmac of the Manila International Airport (now known as Ninoy Aquino International Airport) on August 21, 1983. Because of his death, it sparked massive protests against the Marcos administration, culminating in the first EDSA People Power Revolution in February 1986 that toppled the dictatorship and martial law regime.
